Privacy notice

This notice applies to personal information processed when you use kontraktor.my as a visitor, customer, contractor, account holder or person submitting a report or recommendation.

The information we collect depends on how you use the service and may include:

• Account details such as your email address, display name, preferred language and authentication identifiers.
• Business listing details such as names, descriptions, service areas, contact details, registration information, logos and project photos.
• Information you send in recommendations, reports, verification requests and communications with us.
• Basic technical and activity data such as device or browser information, request timestamps, security logs, profile views and contact-button events.
• Information provided by sign-in, hosting, database, security and authentication providers where needed to deliver the service.

We process information to operate the service and for the following purposes:

• Create accounts, publish and manage listings, and enable direct contact.
• Review listings, verification requests and reports; prevent fraud, spam and abuse; and protect users and the service.
• Provide support, send service messages and respond to enquiries.
• Measure aggregate performance, understand which pages and contact methods are useful, and improve accessibility and reliability.
• Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Published contractor profiles are public and may be indexed by search engines. This can include the business name, description, service areas, public contact details, website, registration details, verification indicators, logo and project photos.

Do not add private home addresses, identity documents or other sensitive information to public fields. Removing a listing may not immediately remove copies held by search engines, archives or people who previously accessed it.

We use essential cookies or similar storage for sign-in, security, language preferences and session continuity. We also record aggregate profile views and clicks on WhatsApp, phone, email and website buttons. We do not use those totals to show contractors the identity of individual visitors and do not fingerprint visitors.

Security controls may temporarily process network information, including IP addresses, to rate-limit requests and prevent abuse.

We share information only as needed with service providers that support hosting, databases, authentication, email delivery, storage, security and analytics; with authorities or advisers where required by law or to protect rights and safety; or as part of a business reorganisation with appropriate safeguards.

When you follow a WhatsApp, phone, email or website link, you deal directly with that contractor or external service under their own privacy terms. We do not sell personal information.

Our service providers may process information outside Malaysia. Where this happens, we use reasonable contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the information and service.

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including account operation, safety, dispute handling, backups and legal requirements. Retention periods vary by record. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, withdraw consent, object to or restrict certain processing, or request deletion. You can update many listing and account details directly from your dashboard.

Send requests to privacy@kontraktor.my. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where the law, fraud prevention, safety or legal claims require it. You may also raise a concern with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Commissioner.

The service is not intended for children under 18, and they must not create accounts or listings. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review it.

We may update this notice as the service or law changes. The current version and effective date will always appear on this page. Questions and requests can be sent to privacy@kontraktor.my.
